Arms Museum will offer Civil War talk

A 45-minute talk, “Longing for Home:Christmas During the Civil War,” will be featured at 2 and 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at The Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave.

The talk will focus on Christmas traditions in 1862.

Soldiers’ Aid Societies in the North and South came together to pack boxes of food, gifts, clothing, and other items.

Reproduction artifacts will be on display with an example of a soldier’s box.

Also visit the Memories of Christmas Past display from 1 to 5 p.m. now through Jan. 6. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors; and $4 for children 3 to 18. Under 3 enters free.

Proceeds help fund the programs sponsored by the Mahoning Valley Historical Society.
