Netflix streaming service back online

Those hoping to spend the holiday watching streaming video from Netflix can get back in front of their TVs, tablets and PCs after a Christmas Eve outage.

A Netflix Inc. spokesman said by email Tuesday morning that the service has been fully restored.

The outage affected customers in the Americas starting around 12:30 p.m. PST on Monday. The company, which is based in Los Gatos, Calif., blamed problems with Amazon Web Services and said it is investigating further.

Kurdish region stops oil exports

BAGHDAD

An Iraqi Kurdish official said Tuesday that the country’s self-ruled northern Kurdish region has suspended oil exports over a payment row with Baghdad, a development that could add to already souring relations between the Kurds and the Arab-led central government.

Since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion, the Kurds have unilaterally struck more than 50 deals with foreign oil companies, even though Baghdad says they have no right to do so.
