Arms Museum schedules Civil War Christmas presentation

The Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave., presents “Longing for Home: Christmas During the Civil War” at 2 and 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday .

The 45 minute talk will focus on Christmas traditions during the second year of the Civil War. Visitors will learn about ways soldiers were bringing the home front to the battlefield as the war slowly entered its third year. There will be original and reproduction artifacts on display, as well as an example of a soldier’s box.

The “Memories of Christmas Past” exhibit is open through Jan. 6. Hours for the museum are 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, closed on New Year’s Day.

Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, and $4 for children ages 3-18. Proceeds from the event help fund the educational and exhibit programs sponsored by the Mahoning Valley Historical Society.
