Snowstorm to set in Wednesday morning

A winter storm warning is in effect from 7 a.m. Wednesday to 7 a.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland.

Snow will develop Wednesday, with blowing snow in the afternoon, the weather service reports. Snow may be heavy at times in the afternoon.

Meteorologist Eric Wilhelm of WFMJ-TV 21, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, said the Youngstown area can expect a general accumulation of 8 to 12 inches of snow. It will begin snowing between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.

“It will come down steady until 9 in the evening,” he said.

Wilhelm said that from Columbiana County and southeast to Pittsburgh, accumulation will be less because of a mix-in of sleet.

The weather service expects 4 to 8 inches of snow for northern Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania. The chance of snow is near 100 percent. The high will be in the lower 30s Wednesday, with northeast winds 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph.

Wednesday night will be brisk with lows in the mid 20s and north winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. The chance of snow is 90 percent.

Thursday will be mostly cloudy with highs in the lower 30s and north winds from 10 to 15 mph.
