New publishing pact

BOARDMAN

Patrick Pacalo, a longtime Boardman resident, has signed an agreement with Publish-America to publish his fifth book on the Cold War.

The book views the Cold War from an interpretation of general history and sees the struggle as having been of the greatest magnitude in history.

Pacalo has earned numerous academic degrees in political science and history and teaches for Austintown Local Schools, Trumbull Business College and Youngstown State University. More information can be found at www.patrickpacalo.net.

Pacalo also has been to Fagaras, Romania, home of his ancestors, and donated a book in the series. He has traveled in Asia, Africa, Europe and the U.S. for material for his books.

The title of the book is “Kawfee Talk: Cold Warfare V.”

‘Finding Utopia’ explores Ohio byways

In “Finding Utopia: Another Journey into Lost Ohio,” author Randy McNutt again explores the state’s forgotten nooks and byways.

The book, published by Kent State University Press (264 pages, $21.95), picks up where McNutt’s previous book ended — on roads less traveled. The author explores ghost towns, battlefields turned into corn fields and old memories, and finds a new cast of quirky people along the way who struggled to keep their towns on the map.

McNutt is a native of Hamilton. He has written 20 books and hundreds of features for newspapers and magazines.

Author publishes his fifth book

Regional writer Ricky LaVaughn has published five books, including his most recent, the inspirational “The Golden Image.” He also has written two religious books, “In the Beginning” and “Foundation of Fire,” as well as the fiction novels “Repeat Offender” and “When Roses Cry.”

He is working on his sixth novel, a psychological thriller titled “Creed.”

LaVaughn, who attended Ohio State University, is a subordination specialist in the mortgage department of JP Morgan Chase. He also has seminars on character development, story structure and how to get a book published. Go to lavauri.com.

Fantasy novel unveiled

Regional writer R.S. Ebert’s fantasy novel “Time’s Disease, Laurent in Chains” (932 pages) has been published by AbbottPress.

Ebert spent a decade traveling through 48 states and Canada to help create the fictional landscapes found in his book.

In its review of his book, Kirkus Reviews wrote, “Genre fans seeking a fix of especially ornate, challenging and imaginative high fantasy could find this one quite catchy.”
