Trooper of the Year

Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Tony D. Stephens, who lives in Trumbull County, has been selected 2012 Trooper of the Year for the Hiram Post.

The selection of Stephens, 47, is in recognition of outstanding service this year at the Hiram Post. He now is in contention for the district and state Trooper of the Year award to be announced at a later date.

Stephens joined the patrol in 1993. He began his career at the Warren Post, where he was nominated in 2003 for Trooper of the Year, and transferred to the Hiram Post in 2011.

He is a graduate of LaBrae High School in Warren Township and continued his education at Kent State University.

Stephens and his wife, Christine, live in Braceville with their two children, Tyler, 11, and Aidan, 9.
