HEALTH CARE

Sharon Regional Health System has announced the appointment of Amy Smith as its new chief quality officer.

Smith will have direct responsibility for patient safety, service quality, organizational performance and clinical standards, among other areas.

She has degrees from Duquesne University, the University of Erie and the University of Pittsburgh. Smith joins Sharon Regional from ValleyCare Health System in Youngstown, where she most recently served as vice president of care management.

Local podiatric physicians are lending their expertise to a new publication aimed at improving ankle and foot care across the globe.

Three of Boardman-based Ankle & Foot Care Centers’ podiatric physicians were called upon to write chapters in McGlamry’s Comprehensive Textbook of Foot and Ankle Surgery. The textbook, just published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, is considered to be the definitive reference text in the field of podiatry.

Ankle & Foot Care Centers is the region’s largest podiatric- care provider, with 18 local offices.

Practicing podiatric surgeons, orthopedic foot and ankle surgeons, and podiatry students will reference the work of physicians Lawrence A. DiDomenico, Michelle Anania, and Mari Wargo-Dorsey.

Local resident Kevin Shope, a senior regional sales manager at Citizens Wealth Management/Charter One Investments, has been recognized with a Chairman’s Good Banking Award, the highest honor that RBS Citizens Financial Group awards to its colleagues.

The Good Banking Awards are part of the bank’s commitment to recognizing colleagues for excellence in areas such as customer service and involvement in local communities.

Award recipients are nominated by the bank’s executive leadership and receive their awards directly from RBS Citizens Financial Group Chairman and CEO Ellen Alemany.

Novelis has announced the appointment of Lee Davis as the new plant manager at its Warren facility.

With more than 20 years of industry experience, Davis has served as technology leader of casting and metal treatment at the plant since 2005. Novelis recycles aluminum and produces rolled aluminum.

Davis has degrees from the University of Texas at El Paso, Bastyr University in Washington state and the Colorado School of Mines.

Millwood Inc. of Vienna, has hired Jessica Palmer as its marketing programs analyst.

Millwood specializes in packaging systems for transportation and storage. Palmer will support Millwood’s marketing and sales initiative through competitive analysis, economic monitoring and industry research.

She is a 2008 graduate of Youngstown State University, where she finished with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
