Poland wrestlers sweep South Range, Cardinal

The Poland varsity wrestling team improved to 9-0 after beating South Range and Cardinal in a tri-match at South Range High School.

Coach Tony Stellato credits wrestlers Dante Ginnetti, Anthony Audi and Anthony Mancini, who scored a combined 35 team points on the day.

Poland defeated South Range 60-15 with five wrestlers registering pins, including Ginnetti. Darren Gooden, David Esarco, Mancini and Audi. Tad Duran and John Berndt each earned wins by decision.

The Bulldogs defeated Cardinal 41-23 with pins coming from Ginnetti, Bobby Murcko, Mancini, Berndt, Jordan Zigler and Trey Ellis. Audi won by technical fall.

Poland will begin the 2013 portion of its schedule Jan. 28-29 with a trip to Kenston High School to an invitational featuring 27 of the top teams from across Ohio. The tournament can be followed live on the tournament’s website or by delayed broadcast on WELW.com 1330 AM radio.
