Pa. state troopers probe man's death in Mercer County

MERCER, Pa. — Pennsylvania State troopers are investigating the shooting death of a 58-year-old Carlton, Pa., man.

The body of David A. Dignall was found Thursday evening on Hallibaugh Road in French Creek Township. Troopers and firefighters from the Cochranton Volunteer Fire Department were called to the scene about 5:30 p.m. Thursday of a reported vehicle fire.

Dignall was discovered outside of the vehicle, which was partially burned.

An autopsy by the Erie County Coroner’s Office found that Dignall suffered a single gunshot wound.
