Boardman Market Street Elementary School hosted a Santa breakfast for its students Dec. 8 in the school cafeteria. During the breakfast, students and parents had the opportunity to get their pictures taken with Santa, eat a variety of breakfast foods, shop at Santa’s workshop, or put their ticket into a Chinese auction. Each class put together a basket to be raffled off during the breakfast.

“The Santa breakfast has been a tradition at Boardman Market for some time and it has grown with every passing year,” said Nicole Torres, a PTA representative. “We have been doing this event for so long that it’s very easy to set it up and to know what we have to do. We have a great PTA and a lot of people help to make this event one of our biggest throughout the year.”

According to Torres, the PTA sponsors three family events at Market Street Elementary every year — the tailgate at the beginning of the school year, the Santa breakfast and the carnival that will take place at the end of the school year. In addition to these events, the PTA might also sponsor such great family events as the mother-daughter party or the father-daughter dance, depending on time and financial constrictions.

“These events are just great family events that create a nice memory for the family. It’s nice to see so many people come out to take advantage of the fun and the food and maybe participate in our Chinese auction as well,” said Cara Essad, a PTA member.
