US Rep. Tim Ryan cleared of improper conduct in intoxication charge

A U.S. House Ethics Committee investigation into a dismissed public-intoxication charge against U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan has cleared the congressman of any improper conduct.

The committee launched the inquiring on Dec. 19, 15 days after a Lexington, Va., judge dismissed the charge.

The committee unanimously determined that a review by an investigative subcommittee into the matter is not required and considers the case closed.

Ryan of Niles, D-17th, recently called the citation “garbage,” and that he wasn’t intoxicated when charged by police in Lexington on Aug. 25.
