Legion post in city gets keys to building

YOUNGSTOWN

American Legion Post 472, 323 E. Indianola Ave., will wreceive the keys to its new building at a presentation at 9 a.m. today .

The building was constructed by the nonprofit group Core 6+, local companies that donated the funds and building supplies and tradesmen throughout the tri-county area who donated their skills and time.

The new building features a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen for community events, a large meeting room and additional handicap- access space for assisting area veterans.

The building project was completed in record time due to the community’s interest and involvement and will benefit area veterans and their families, said Donny Murphy, a Core 6+ spokesman. Bob Raver is Post 472 commander.

Shelter help sought

WARREN

The Warren Family Mission is reaching out to the community for help to fix the boilers that provide heat and hot water at the mission’s Hannah’s House for women on Warren-Sharon Road in Vienna.

Because the boilers for each have gone out in the past two weeks, the shelter has no heat or hot water, though it remains open.

Hannah’s House is a one-year Christian facility for women with substance-abuse and other problems. Thirteen women live there, and several children visit regularly. Hannah’s House is funded solely through donations.

It also offers the women Christian foundational classes, GED readiness, life and coping skills, job readiness and an after-care program.

To help, call Michelle Beauchene at 330-394-5437 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Toy donations sought

WARREN

The Warren Family Mission still needs toy donations for children and teens because donations are less than last year.

Anyone willing to help should drop off toys or gift cards to 361 Elm Road NE any time or at 2671 Youngstown Road SE from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
