Grow Youngstown food share box pickup is Friday
Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN
Although temperatures have dropped and snow has fallen, area farmers continue to produce throughout the winter months.
Items such as spinach, kale, squash, sweet potatoes, beets and eggs are available.
Each month, Grow Youngstown’s Community Supported Agriculture members receive a share box of locally grown and made products. The December share-box pickup for winter CSA members will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. Friday at the D.D. and Velma Davis Education & Visitor Center in Mill Creek MetroParks’ Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Ave.
Guests are invited to attend to learn more about Grow Youngstown and CSA programs.
Grow Youngstown aims to teach where and how food is grown, how it is distributed and how what we eat contributes to health.
Grow Youngstown, in its fifth year, is the Mahoning Valley’s largest CSA program, supporting local farmers by connecting them directly with consumers and providing the community with fresh, locally produced food.
