Victims identified in Shaker Heights fire

SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio (AP) — Authorities are identifying the two people who died in a house fire in a Cleveland suburb as a father and his teenage daughter.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victims of Tuesday morning’s fire as 62-year-old Jance Reynolds and 18-year-old Mary Paige Reynolds.

Both died from smoke inhalation as fire consumed the two-story house in Shaker Heights before dawn. Five other residents were taken to a hospital.

Shaker Heights Fire Chief Kevin Jacobs said the fire started in the rear of the first floor and burned right up the staircase. Firefighters found the bodies of the father and daughter on the second floor.

The house is so badly damaged it will have to be demolished. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
