City police ID cop in Sunday's shooting

YOUNGSTOWN — An internal affairs investigation into the officer related shooting of a city man earlier this week has concluded that the officer did not violate any laws or departmental regulations in the discharge of his weapon.

Officer Brad Ditullio has been off duty recuperating since being struck by a car driven by 39-year-old Jesse Cooper who was trying to escape a traffic stop. Ditullio shot Cooper as he was being hit by the car, but the investigation determined the officer to be in the right.

Cooper has been charged with felonious assault and is in the hospital recovering from his gunshot wound.
