Cleveland law school to help new solo lawyers

CLEVELAND

A law school in northeast Ohio plans a new program in the fall intended to make it easier for new attorneys to set up solo firms.

Cleveland-Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University plans to open a law incubator to help attorneys learn fundamentals such as how to get clients and how to run a business.

The Plain Dealer reports the college is spending $1.2 million to build offices in its library where Cleveland-Marshall graduates launching solo practices can rent space near downtown at a low cost.

The attorneys will be able to connect with mentors, affordable insurance and discounted legal research software through a partnership with the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.

The program also will enable lawyers to support one another with business tips and camaraderie.
