Victory Christian presents ‘Scrooge’

“The Gospel According to Scrooge,” a Christian adaptation of the novel “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, will be staged at 7 p.m. today, Saturday and Sunday at Victory Christian Center, 3899 McCartney Road (U.S. Route 422).

Doors open at 6 p.m.

The shows are free.

The production features a cast and crew of 100, state-of-the-art sets and lighting and period costumes.

‘Book of Mormon’ tickets to go on sale

Tickets will go on sale at 9 a.m. today for the touring production of “The Book of Mormon,” which will come to the Benedum Center for nine performances March 26 through April 7.

Tickets begin at $36 and will be available at the box office at Theater Square, 655 Penn Ave., at TrustArts.org, and by calling 412-456-4800.

The comic musical is the winner of nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

Stadium animation favorites in exhibit

The Toonseum’s new exhibit, “Pittsburgh Scores! The Pro Scoreboard Art of Kensington Falls Animation,” will open Dec. 21.

Pittsburgh sports fans will be familiar with these animations, which have been shown countless times on the scoreboard at Pirates, Steelers and Penguin games.

The Toonseum — the museum of cartooning — will offer them a closer look and an opportunity to meet the producer.

Kensington Falls established the Penguins’ “Steroid Penguin” character; and created two Pittsburgh Pirates favorites, “The Pirate Ship,” which does battle on the rivers with ships from opposing teams; and “Pirate Train,” featuring a comical engineer who leans out the window and gives a whistle.
