POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Liberty and Girard:
LIBERTY
Dec. 6
Arrest: A traffic stop near Colonial Drive led to the arrest of 24-year-old Keith A. Fant, 916 Ridge Ave., Youngstown, who was wanted on two warrants accusing him of failing to appear in court.
Burglary: To a home in the 1700 block of Wilson Avenue through a side window. Stolen were a 43-inch TV as well as Wii and Xbox systems, for a $1,800 loss.
Fraud: Police investigated the theft of $231 worth of paint and related products from Sherwin Williams Co., 110 E. Liberty St., after a man claiming to represent a township assisted-living center bought the items but failed to pay the bill, which was sent to a collection agency before the center found fraudulent charges to its account.
Theft: The rear license plate was stolen off a car in the 70 block of Euclid Boulevard.
Theft: Two Youngstown girls, 14 and 15, were charged with stealing two purses from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road. The teens, both of whom were wanted on warrants from the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center in Youngstown, faced additional charges of obstructing official business when, police said, they provided false names.
Dec. 7
Burglary: To a residence in the 1900 block of Oriel-Rogers Road via forcible entry through the front door. Seven firearms that had been stolen were recovered.
Public indecency: A woman walking to work near Belmont Avenue told police a man in a sport-utlilty vehicle exposed himself to her on several occasions.
Arrest: A traffic stop on state Route 193 led to the arrest of 50-year-old William F. Slater, 5061 Aravesta Ave., Boardman, on charges of driving under suspension and operating a vehicle impaired.
Criminal damaging: A tool chest in a pickup truck was damaged in the 4000 block of Logangate Road.
Theft: A Youngstown man reportedly rented but never returned a $280 drill snake to Rental Corral, 1530 Gypsy Lane.
Dec. 8
Breaking and entering: Someone pried open a garage door in the 300 block of Goldie Road, then stole $5,000 worth of copper from the vacant residence.
Recovered property: A 1999 Cadillac vehicle was in an accident near Ravine Drive after a Fifth Avenue woman had reported it stolen. The occupants fled the scene, a report said.
Dec. 9
Theft: A Logangate Road woman reported her wallet stolen.
Theft: A debit card was taken from a car in the 800 block of Golf Avenue.
Identity theft: An elderly Fifth Avenue man learned his identity had been compromised regarding his credit cards, though he suffered no monetary loss.
Dec. 10
Aggravated menacing: A Wilson Avenue man alleged a Niles man had threatened to set fire to the accuser’s residence in an effort to kill the occupants.
Criminal damaging: Two of a vehicle’s tires were slashed in the 100 block of Trumbull Avenue, resulting in a $500 damage estimate.
Theft: Two $600 iPhones were removed from the boys locker room at Liberty High School, 1 Leopard Way.
Theft: A $5,000 all-terrain vehicle was stolen in the 1400 block of Shannon Road.
Recovered property: Two women’s purses and various personal papers were found in the road and a yard in the 3800 block of Northlawn Drive.
Recovered property: A 2004 Hyundai vehicle was found near Klines Drive after a township man had reported it stolen.
Dec. 11
Arrest: Police dealing with a vehicular crash near Colonial Drive cited 59-year-old Faye L. McCain, 50 Trumbull Court, Liberty, on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.
Arrest: Officers cited Belinda K. McCullum, 56, of 124 New York Ave., Youngstown, after having pulled her over on Belmont Avenue. She faced a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.
GIRARD
Dec. 8
Criminal mischief: A woman found a rear window to her home in the 100 block of Hazel Street broken and that a corresponding screen had been cut.
Criminal mischief: Someone tore down a large banner belonging to Periodic Tattoo Inc., 208 N. State St.
Dec. 9
Criminal damaging: A woman noticed two small holes in siding on her Crumlin Avenue residence, as well as three holes near window trim.
Dec. 10
Theft: A 20-inch, $100 bicycle was stolen in the 100 block of East Prospect Street.
Theft: A $100 global-positioning-system unit was removed from a car, though the report gave no address.
Identity fraud: A Girard Avenue woman realized her Social Security number had been used without authorization when she discovered a date of birth different from her own.
Drugs: Police answered a call regarding a runaway juvenile in the 200 block of Church Hill Road before his mother handed officers a container with 17 pills, and two small pieces of suspected marijuana.
