Poland varsity wrestlers sweep tri-match

Poland hosted an all-level triangular match against Brookfield and Jackson-Milton last week, with about 80 youth wrestlers, plus middle school varsity matches at Poland Seminary High School.

Wrestlers from first through sixth grade competed at the youth level with Poland’s youth team having more than 30 wrestlers on its roster.

Poland Middle School’s squad was defeated by both Brookfield and Jackson-Milton, giving up forfeits at several weight classes.

In varsity action, Poland beat Jackson-Milton 51-24. Leading the Bulldogs with pins were Anthony Audi, Joel Miller, Jordon Ziegler, Trey Ellis, Dante Ginnetti, Tad Duran, Bruno Spoltson and Abe Kassem.

Against Brookfield, Poland posted an impressive 72-12 victory, with pins by Anthony Audi, Abe Kassem, Dante Ginnetti, Bruno Spotleson and David Esarco.

Poland is now undefeated with a 7-0 record and will face a big home match Dec. 19 against rival Canfield.
