YOUNGSTOWN

Jury selection began Thursday for the trial of Donovan Miller in the Sept. 22, 2011, shooting death of Quest Waggoner.

The trial is before Judge Lou A. D’Apolito of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

Miller, 27, of Cambridge Avenue, was indicted on an aggravated-murder charge with a firearm specification and on charges of tampering with evidence and trafficking in more than 2.2 pounds of marijuana.

The coroner ruled that Waggoner, 22, died in his Inverness Avenue residence of a single gunshot wound to the head.

Waggoner died several hours before his mother found him dead on a living-room couch, with the house doors unlocked, police said.

Police also said they found a small marijuana- growing operation and some packaged marijuana at that house.

If he’s convicted of the aggravated murder with the gun specification, Miller faces 23 years to life in prison.
