Boardman library hosts ‘blue’ toddler tales

The Boardman branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County hosted a storytime for 2- and 3-year-olds on Nov. 28.
Storytimes at the Boardman library are tailored for a specific age group to encourage language and reading skill development at a young age. This storytime was centered around the color blue and things that are blue or have the color blue in them.
Boardman librarian John Yingling started the event by reading a story about a bunny that loved his blue blanket and what happens to it when it gets washed. He then asked children to participate in a song with hand motions about picking blueberries. Another book Yingling chose to read was about animals in a farmyard that want to surprise the farmer by painting the farmyard. Another activity at the event was making a rainbow with different pieces of paper.
Yingling ended the storytime by reading a book about many of the things in the world that are blue, such as blueberries, ribbons, whales and poison-dart frogs.
