WARREN

A 36-year-old cleaning lady reported being assaulted and robbed while taking out the trash behind the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber Building at the corner of West Market Street and Main Avenue.

The woman said the incident happened at 12:30 a.m. Thursday at the corner of Thumm Court and Dave Grohl Alley. The woman was struck on the side of her face repeatedly while standing at the receptacle. She dropped a tote bag containing personal items, and two males grabbed the bag and left.

The victim was taken by her supervisor to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital for treatment of bruising and swelling to her face.

Parole denied

WARREN

The Ohio Parole Board has denied parole to Richard Clowers, 61, who killed his father-in-law, William Brainard, 47; his mother-in-law, Janice Brainard, 45; and their granddaughter, Dawn Waszo, 5; in 1978. Clowers, who has been in prison 34 years, will be eligible for another parole hearing in 10 years.

Clowers, from West Farmington, was not eligible for the death penalty for the murders because Ohio had a moratorium on the death penalty at the time of his conviction. The Brainards were from Gustavus Township, and the bodies of all three were found off of Bristol-Champion Townline Road in Bristol Township.

Fundraiser planned

BRISTOLVILLE

Students, teachers and parents have organized a fundraiser for today at Bristol High School for a rivalry basketball game between Bristol and Southington high schools to benefit Warren Family Mission.

This is the second year of the fundraiser, which involves T-shirts that read “Rival For A Cause — Warren Family Mission.” The shirts have team mascots on them.

Proceeds will benefit the mission’s holiday-outreach projects.
