Program: A musical presentation by Akiva Academy students will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown. Thursday is the sixth day of Hanukkah. The program is free.
Combined event: In its third year, the combined program was created to allow for broad-based student, family and community celebration. The large menorah previously had been displayed at the Eastwood Mall in Niles as part of the traditional event co-sponsored by Children of Israel Synagogue and Jewish Community Relations Council of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation.
Refreshments: Traditional foods such as potato latkes (pancakes), jelly doughnuts and gelte (chocolate coins) will be served.
