Trumbull bird count will be Dec. 16

Trumbull County’s Christmas bird count will be Dec 16. Anyone living within the circle that includes Cortland, Mecca, Greene, West Farmington, Southington, Champion, Bristoville and North Bloomfield can count birds that come to their bird feeders.

They can also participate by helping on a particular territory. The Christmas Bird Count dates to 1900, and Trumbull County’s count dates to 1976. The results of past counts are on the National Audubon web site.

The count shows migration and wintering patterns, and scientists use the data to determine the status bird species. For more information, call Carole at 330-856-6160.
