Felon Jesse Cooper arrested again

A city man with a long criminal record is in Mahoning County jail without bond awaiting a court date for an offense he purportedly committed while he had pending criminal charges.
Jesse Cooper, 39, of Ravenwood Avenue, is facing a felony receiving-stolen-property charge in Youngstown Municipal Court.
Cooper is accused of having a car stolen from Lucerne Lane in Boardman. The car theft was reported Aug. 31, and the vehicle was found by Youngstown police Sept. 27 in the area of Cooper’s city residence, according to records. Inside the car was evidence linked to Cooper, police said.
Cooper was apprehended Wednesday by U.S. Marshals. He is still waiting the resolution of a 2011 receiving-stolen-property case against him.
In April 2011, he was indicted on that charge, but could not appear in front of Judge John Durkin of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court until more than a year later because he was incarcerated in the Belmont Correctional Institution in St. Clairsville, according to court records.
When Cooper did appear before Judge Durkin last August, he was released on his own recognizance. On Sept. 27, his bond was revoked before being changed Nov. 29 to his own recognizance. Six days later he was arrested by U.S. Marshals.
In this case, Cooper is accused in a string of thefts from motor vehicles in Boardman. He had ended up in prison after violating terms of his parole in a 2010 burglary case.
He pleaded guilty to burglary, accused of breaking into homes in the northern part of Boardman Township, and was sentenced to community control by Judge R. Scott Krichbaum.
In March 2011, Judge Krichbaum sentenced him to one year in prison on parole violation.
Cooper’s record goes back a decade; In June 2000, Cooper, then 26, was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to the attempted rape and attempted kidnapping of a Boardman woman.
