Free language lessons during open house

Free lessons will be offered in French, Italian, Arabic and Spanish during a foreign languages open house from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at the YSU Metro College, Southwoods Commons, 100 DeBartolo Place, Suite 200.

Regular classes begin in January; call 330-941-2465 for fees and registration.

Trumbull Art Gallery will sponsor tea

Trumbull Art Gallery is sponsoring a tea from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the gallery, 196 E. Market St.

Learn about the art of collecting art.

Admission is free.

Gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Church sponsors music and drama

AUSTINTOWN

Tabernacle Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 2432 S. Raccoon Road, will host the Carpenter family, a West Virginia couple and their six eldest sons, at 7:30 p.m. Monday for a night filled with biblical musicals and drama.

They will tell of the story of Josiah, one of the original Christmas shepherds.

The goal of the Carpenters is to educate, entertain and to encourage stronger families and faith, one person at a time.

There will be no charge for the event but an offering will be taken.

Refreshments will be served.

Library to offer holiday activities

Leetonia Community Public Library, 181 Walnut St., has the following activities for the month of December:

Tuesday: Polar Express program for children of all ages at 6 p.m.

Wednesday: Book discussion, “Christmas Train” by David Baldacci, and toddler playgroup at 10 a.m.

Dec. 8: Niki Slaven vocal concert at 2 p.m.; cookies, cocoa, and munchkins at 3; special story time with guests at 3:30; Dulci-More folk and traditional musicians playing Christmas favorites at 4:30.

Dec. 11: Preschool story time at 10 a.m. or 1:30 p.m.; board meeting at 5:30.

Dec. 12: Toddler playgroup 10 a.m.; “A Dickens of a Good Time,” 7 to 8:30 p.m., Friends of the Library fundraiser, must register by Dec. 10 at 330-427-6635.

Dec. 13: Leetonia students Christmas concert at 6 p.m.

Dec. 15: Family movie at 1 p.m., “Christmas Story 2.”

Dec. 19: Toddler playgroup at 10 a.m.

Dec. 22: Last day for Read for Santa program.

Center offers holiday project for seniors

NILES

The Niles S.C.O.P.E. Senior Center, 14 E. State St., will be the site of a craft project open to all seniors at 10 a.m. Friday at the center.

Participants will be making a Christmas wreath, taught by instructor Mary Warren. All supplies will be included.

The cost is $5. Register by calling the center at 330-544-3676 or stop in.
