Union may absorb hundreds more in Ohio government

COLUMBUS (AP) — Hundreds of management employees in Ohio’s state government could soon become union members — without their approval.

The Columbus Dispatch reports today that the union representing the majority of the state work force wants to absorb around 600 state government management analysts.

That union, the Ohio Civil Service Employees Association, recently informed the Office of Collective Bargaining of the proposal. Those employees are now exempt from the union and not required to pay dues.

The collective-bargaining office, which is part of the state administration, agreed to the union’s request.

Some of the 600 employees will be added to the union rolls, while others will remain in management, depending on their duties.
