Swim classes set for Jewish Center
YOUNGSTOWN
Beginning in September, the Jewish Community Center will offer Learn to Swim Classes taught by an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor. Interested parties do not need to be members at the center to sign up for classes.
Lessons for three different skill levels will be offered for four weeks each.
“You & Me Baby” is designed for children 6 months to 3 years with parents assisting their children in the water. Babies and toddlers will learn how to float on their backs and bellies and improve their motor skills. Swim pants or swim diapers are required for classes, which will be Saturdays from 9:30 to 10 a.m. and cost $20 for JCC members and $30 for nonmembers.
Dolphins, for children ages 3 to 5, will teach the basic skills of swimming, safety tips about pools and water games. Lessons will be Saturdays from 10 to 10:30 a.m. and will cost $20 for members and $30 for nonmembers.
Sharks, for children ages 6 to 12, will teach basic swimming skills and pool safety and urge students to gain confidence and self-reliance in the pool. These classes will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m, and will cost $45 for members and $50 for nonmembers
