POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Aug. 21

Theft: A Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road woman noticed 35 Xanex tablets missing from her purse.

Aug. 22

Theft: A Katahdin Drive man reported the theft of a $1,700 laptop computer.

BOARDMAN

Aug. 22

Harassment: A Shields Road man reported having gotten multiple unwanted calls regarding money owed.

Employee theft: Janice M. Wilosh, 66, of 42 Brookfield Ave., Boardman, surrendered on a felony charge after a worker with the Great Phoenix Trading Co. in the Southern Park Mall alleged Wilosh had been stealing merchandise and money from the store since mid-May.

Auto theft: A 2010 Ford Flex was stolen in the 6000 block of Tam-o-Shanter Drive.

Menacing: An employee with a South Avenue big-box store said a man made a threatening gesture, leading her to believe she might be assaulted.

Recovered property: A Pittsburgh Steelers jersey and a T-shirt were recovered after a man had stolen the items from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Robbery: Tanicqwa T. Wilkerson, 21, of 522 W. Boston Ave., Youngstown, faced a robbery charge after roughly $159 worth of clothing was stolen from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road. Two employees who tried to detain Wilkerson alleged she grabbed and scratched them while trying to flee, then threatened to blow up the business.

Theft: Chandilar F. Whisel, 30, of 4335 Southern Blvd., Boardman, was charged with stealing about $101 worth of makeup from Kmart.

Theft: A Youngstown woman reported her $500 cellphone stolen at a Doral Drive store.

Misuse of a credit card: A Poland man discovered his deceased mother’s stolen card had been used without permission to make $3,729 worth of unauthorized charges.

Attempted theft: A man reportedly tried to steal 21 health and beauty products from Family Dollar, 4030 Market St.

Aug. 23

Attempted theft: A worker for a business in the 5900 block of Market Street interrupted two males trying to siphon gasoline from her vehicle.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 7300 block of Tiffany Boulevard was found with three slashed tires.

Identity fraud: A Wendy Lane woman reported having received three calls from a woman claiming to represent an insurance company and asking the accuser for her Social Security number, date of birth and mother’s maiden name.

Aggravated menacing: A Forest Park Place man reported a relative threatened to shoot him.

Arrest: Pat Mulholland, 28, of North Augusta, S.C., was charged with obstructing official business when, police said, he furnished a false first name and date of birth during a traffic stop near Tiffany Boulevard.

Theft by deception: An elderly Auburn Hills Drive man told officers a caller claiming to be his grandson requested the man send $1,800 to get him out of a jail in Mexico. Another family member later informed the accuser that the grandson was not in Mexico.

Theft: Sixty prescription medications were stolen from an apartment in the 4200 block of Glenwood Avenue.

Menacing: A Boardman woman told police someone threatened to beat up her son, who has developmental disabilities.

Aug. 24

Theft: Devon T. Dunn, 19, was taken into custody on a theft warrant during a traffic stop on East Midlothian Boulevard. Dunn, of 145 Illinois Ave., Youngstown, was accused of stealing a $47 cellphone case in June from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Aggravated menacing: A Melrose Avenue woman reported a man told her he had placed something in her vehicle’s gas tank that would cause the car to explode.

Harassment: A Huntington Ridge Drive woman told officers a man in Olympia, Wash., has made unwanted weekly calls to her over a one-month period.

Theft: A woman took five bottles of cologne from Ulta Beauty, 403 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: A woman noticed $500 missing from her Carter Circle apartment.

Vandalism: Someone tossed eggs at a home in the 8100 block of Pine Hill Drive, causing extensive damage to the aluminum siding.

Theft: A Glendale Avenue woman reported two dogs stolen from her home.

Arrest: Leslie L. McIntosh Jr., 39, of 8261 Market St., Boardman, was arrested during a traffic stop on a charge of failure to appear in court.

Harassment: A worker for a South Avenue business said her former boyfriend sent and made approximately unwanted 70 text messages and 40 calls to her.

Fraud: A township man discovered two unauthorized charges totaling $185 to his account that originated from a Boardman-Canfield Road restaurant.

Aug. 25

Drugs: A task force set up in the 4100 block of South Avenue to catch drunken drivers arrested 27-year-old Daniel T. Dellick, 1403 Clarencedale Ave., Youngstown, on a drug-abuse charge after saying a syringe was found. Also, Daniel J. Niehorster, 25, of 4641 South Ave., Boardman, and Steven Blanchard, also 25, of 168 Clifton Ave., Boardman, were cited on charges of having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and having an expired operator’s license, respectively.

Theft: Brandon L. Casanova, 23, and Jaime L. Casanova, 24, both of 24 N. Dunlap Ave., Youngstown, were charged in the theft of $44 worth of clothing from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Identity theft: A Sequoya Drive man discovered an unauthorized transaction that caused his account to be overdrawn $155.

Arrest: Brendann(ok) J. McNeal, 34, of 60 Sciota Ave., Boardman, was picked up in the 6300 block of Market Street. Struthers authorities accused him of failing to appear in court on a charge of driving under suspension.

Theft: A New Waterford boy, 15, was charged with stealing a cellphone case from Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road.

Assault: A Struthers man reported having been struck in the shoulder at the Southern Park Mall.

Auto theft: A 2006 Hummer H-3 vehicle was stolen in the 4400 block of Devonshire Drive.

Theft: Personal checks and a bag containing skating equipment were taken from a car in the 4400 block of Devonshire Drive.

Aug. 26

Domestic violence: Youngstown police handed to township authorities 42-year-old Steven Kelly, 2002 Chapel Hill Drive, Youngstown, who was wanted on a felony charge after a pregnant Carter Circle woman alleged Kelly had dragged her by the hair to a bedroom, where he reportedly threw her against a wall and struck her stomach multiple times during an argument regarding one of the daughters of the accuser.

Assault: A woman alleged a co-worker grabbed her hair and pulled her to the ground in the 600 block of Moyer Avenue.

Menacing: A Sheridan Road man said a neighbor threatened him.

Arrest: Police took 49-year-old Donna J. Buckley into custody after having pulled over the car in which she was traveling on East Midlothian Boulevard. Warren authorities accused Buckley, of 457 Eighth St., Struthers, of failing to appear in court.

Recovered property: Police found a license plate that had been stolen in Youngstown between two concrete barriers on Interstate 680.

Arrest: A traffic stop on Midlothian Boulevard led to the arrest of 22-year-old Brandon D. Thomas, 2977 Oregon Ave., Youngstown, on a charge of possession of dangerous drugs when, police said, he had 15 pills in a bag from a fast-food restaurant. Also taken into custody was Antwon A. Pete, also 22, of 257 W. Delason Ave., Youngstown, wanted on a bench warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court.

Auto theft: A 2002 Pontiac Sunfire was stolen in the 4100 block of Arden Boulevard.

Aggravated menacing: A driver stopped in traffic near U.S. Route 224 and South Avenue told police a man on a motorcycle approached and pointed a pocketknife at the accuser, then threatened to harm him. The victim said he may have inadvertently cut off the motorcyclist and was preparing to apologize.

Domestic violence: Matthew J. Rouns, 25, of 4416 Market St., Boardman, was charged with the crime after a 15-year-old relative alleged Rouns had struck the back of her head during an argument that began when the girl reportedly got a seat in his vehicle wet.
