The Boardman Shepherd of the Valley brought the Olympics to life for its residents with a performance from members of the Ohio Gymnastics Institute of Austintown on Aug. 14.

“I think it’s great to give back to the community and it’s a great thing for the kids to do. I’m excited that they [Shepherd of the Valley] asked us to this,” said gymnastics coach Jackie Karmecy.

Residents clapped in approval as they watched the young gymnasts twist and turn across the floor. There was also a question-and-answer portion of the event where gymnasts introduced themselves and showed off their best moves.

“It feels pretty cool because not anyone can do this sport. We work so hard and not a lot of people get to see us. It’s nice that we can share what we can do,” said Tori Wolfe.

Shepherd of the valley employees also watched in amazement as the gymnast pushed their bodies to the limit during their performance.

“I thought they were wonderful. It was very daring of them and it’s amazing what their abilities are. They are very athletic and the residents really enjoyed it. They love being around children.
