$100,000 grant
YOUNGSTOWN
The city’s board of control approved a $100,000 grant to Taylor-Winfield Technologies Inc., which is spending $2 million to relocate its administrative and engineering offices to the Salt Springs Business Park.
The board approved the grant Thursday, two weeks after giving Taylor-Winfield, a metalworking-machinery company, a 75-percent, 10-year real-property tax abatement.
The company is renting space in Hubbard for 34 full-time and three part-time administrative and engineering employees. The company is building a 16,500-square-foot facility next to its metalworking machinery business at the West Side business park. That facility employs 40.
YouthBuild gets $1M
WARREN
The Trumbull Metropolitan Housing Authority will receive $1,035,000 in YouthBuild funding from the U.S. Department of Labor.
YouthBuild provides educational and occupational training for at-risk Ohioans between the ages of 16 and 24, according to U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown of Avon, D-Ohio.
The Trumbull County award is among six in Ohio announced this week. The others, each for a similar amount of money, were in Cincinnati, Dayton, Canton, Fremont McArthur and Sandusky County.
Rayen parking patrol
YOUNGSTOWN
City police will enforce parking restrictions during athletic events in the new Rayen Stadium to alleviate hazardous traffic conditions. The city school district hosted the first game at the rebuilt stadium last weekend.
Chalmers Ave. closed
Youngstown
Chalmers Avenue between Oakhill and Market streets will be closed from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday for a community block party.
Raccoon hunt
CORTLAND
Hunters have the opportunity to be selected to hunt raccoons in the campground area of Mosquito Lake State Park.
Raccoons have been a nuisance for campers at the lake, so the park will allow two people to hunt during open raccoon season. A public lottery will take place at the Mosquito Lake State Park office, 1439 state Route 305, Cortland, Ohio 44410, on Oct. 1.
Hunters should send name, address, and phone number before Sept. 30 to the park address to be entered in the lottery.
Hunters must not have any previous wildlife violations. Selected hunters will be notified and given details of hunting hours and special regulations.
