Ohio State troopers seize $14K worth of crack cocaine in Wood County

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — Two men face felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 93 grams of suspected crack cocaine, worth nearly $14,000 during a traffic stop in Wood County.

According to a patrol release, troopers stopped a 1999 Ford Contour, with fictitious registration, for a marked-lanes violation on Interstate 75 at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday. Upon approaching the vehicle, the odor of marijuana was detected and a probable-cause search revealed 93 grams of suspected crack cocaine located in the trunk. During a search, drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana was also discovered.

The driver, David Ryan Riley, 28, of Muncie, Ind., and passenger, Richard Allen Barnes, 24, of Detroit, were charged with trafficking in drugs and possession of cocaine, both first-degree felonies. Both men were also charged with various misdemeanor charges.

There were taken to the Wood County Justice Center. If convicted, they could face up to 20 years in prison and up to a $40,000 fine.
