The Oakland Center for the Arts will have an open house at 7 p.m. Friday to unveil its 2012-13 season and also is offering half-price season tickets.

The open house, which is free, will feature appetizers by Roberto’s Italian Ristorante and a wine and beer bar. The theater’s Star Gallery will showcase original artwork by local artists.

Excerpts of the upcoming season will be shown in the center’s Irving Burger Theatre, including performances from its two musicals, “Spring Awakening” and “Hair.”

Guests also will learn of the theater’s plans for the upcoming year, meet board and staff members, performers and volunteers, and have a chance to tour the facility.

The open house also will give patrons an opportunity to take advantage of the Six for Three plan, a limited, introductory offer. The plan allows patrons to receive the full 2012-13 season subscription of six shows for the price of three. This one-time offer is available through Oct. 1.

“This promotion is a way to say thank you to our loyal supporters and to introduce ourselves to new people who have never given us a try before,” said Cleric Costes, board president.

Friday’s event will begin with appetizers and a wine/beer bar from 7 to 8 p.m. The season sneak-peek and a presentation will be from 8 to 9 and dessert and a tour of the theater will follow until 10.

The event is open to the public, but space is limited. Guests who plan to attend must call 330-746-0404.

The Oakland’s 2012-13 season will include “The Normal Heart,” “Spring Awakening,” “Hail to the Chef,” “Preslude to a Kiss,” “The Children’s Hour” and “Hair.”
