Blaze at business

BOARDMAN

Firefighters battled a blaze Tuesday evening at the same McClurg Road business damaged by flames in March.

No one was injured in the fire that broke out about 7 p.m. at D&D Industrial Services. No damage estimate had been determined, but firefighters said it appeared the fire started in an area of the business that houses industrial washers and dryers.

The business was closed at the time, but D&D shares a building with a handful of other businesses which were operating at the time of the fire.

D&D provides uniforms, linens, mops and other items to businesses.

On March 18, fire damaged the same building.

Boy beaten by teens

youngstown

A 16-year-old male told police he was beaten and robbed by a group of 20 young men Tuesday night. The teen said he was at Borts Pool on North Belle Vista Avenue on the West Side with his girlfriend and when she left, he sat down to smoke a cigarette. The group of teenage boys, between 17 and 18, came up behind him, and one struck him in the head with a pipe, a police report said. The boy fell and the group followed, beating and kicking him before taking his wallet, $50, an MP3 player, pocket knife and chewing gum. The boy was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
