Vice President Joe Biden’s scheduled appearance here Friday will be at 11 a.m.
According to an Obama for America press release, Biden will be at the United Auto Workers Local 1714 Union Hall at 2121 Salt Spring Road.
Tickets for the event will be available beginning at 10 a.m. today at Organizing for America headquarters in Warren, located at 155 S. Park Ave.
Biden is expected to talk about General Motors’ $200 million investment in the Lordstown auto plant, as well as other aspects of the automotive industry.
The investment, which was announced last Thursday, is designed for tooling and equipment for the next-generation Chevrolet Cruze.
This will be Biden’s fifth visit to the Mahoning Valley since he became President Barack Obama’s running mate in 2008.
Biden’s last visit to the Valley came on May 16 at M7 Technologies, an advanced-technology company in Youngstown.
His last visit to the Lordstown plant was in October 2010 on behalf of then-Gov. Ted Strickland’s failed re-election bid.
Obama spoke at the auto plant in September 2009.
The vice president’s appearance will come a day after Mitt Romney accepts the Republican presidential nomination at the party’s national convention in Tampa, Fla.
His Thursday acceptance speech will close the Republican National Convention.
The Democratic National Convention in Charlotte begins Monday.
At the convention, delegates will officially select Obama as the party’s presidential nominee and Biden as its vice-presidential nominee.
