City youth beaten, robbed on West Side

YOUNGSTOWN — A 16-year-old city boy told police he was beaten and robbed by a group of 20 young men Tuesday night.

The teen said he was at Borts Pool on North Belle Vista Avenue on the West Side with his girlfriend and when she left, he sat down to smoke a cigarette. The group of teen-age boys, between 17 and 18, came up behind him and one struck him in the head with a pipe, a police report said.

The boy fell and the group followed, beating and kicking him before taking his wallet, $50, an MP3 player, pocket knife and chewing gum. The boy was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
