A man is undergoing a hospital evaluation after a three-hour standoff at a township apartment complex.

Donald L. Robertson, 26, refused to come out of his apartment on Kerrybrook Avenue, off South Raccoon Road, for about three hours Monday morning, said Austintown police Capt. Bryan Kloss.

Police responded because the man threatened to commit suicide, Kloss said.

Austintown police and the Mahoning Valley Crisis Response Team were called to the apartment complex just after 9 a.m., and the man came out on his own around noon.

Police confiscated a large number of firearms from the apartment, Kloss said.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital where he will undergo an evaluation.

No one was injured, and he was alone in the apartment, according to police.
