Ponderosa Park sale set for Tuesday

YOUNGSTOWN — The front portion of Ponderosa Park, 9362 State Route 45, near Salem, which contains the former concert pavilion, Red Garter Saloon and guitar-shaped swimming pool, will be sold in a sheriff’s sale at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Mahoning County Courthouse basement in Youngstown.

The four Goshen Township land parcels, totaling 45.45 acres, will be sold collectively. The appraised value is $225,000, and the minimum bid is $150,000.

That land was withdrawn at the last minute from a March sheriff’s sale because of an inadequate legal description of the property.

However, in the March sale, a 68.37-acre section of the park at 11471 W. Western Reserve Road sold for $700,000, nearly five times its $144,000 appraised value.
