Staff report

Columbus

Both presidential campaigns will have a presence in the Mahoning Valley today.

The official Romney- Ryan campaign bus will continue its tour of Northeast Ohio, making two stops in the Mahoning Valley today, while former Ohio governor and National Campaign Co-Chairman Ted Strickland will join the “Romney Economics: Wrong for the Middle Class” bus tour in the Mahoning Valley at 10 a.m. today

The Romney-Ryan campaign bus serves as a mobile campaign headquarters bringing volunteer recruitment, phone banking, voter registration, and campaign operations to every corner of the state and has timed its visit to the Valley to coincide with the opening of the GOP convention.

One stop will be at the Niles Victory Center at 11 a.m., and a 6 p.m. stop is planned at the Boardman Victory Center.

Strickland is scheduled to arrive at the Golden Dawn restaurant on Logan Avenue in Youngstown and be met by his National Campaign Co-Chairwoman and Warren resident Elaine Price, Mahoning County Democratic Party Chairman Dave Betras, United Auto Workers Local 1112 President Glenn Johnson and Golden Dawn co-owner Johnny Naples.

The Mahoning Valley is expected to be a hotbed of presidential campaigning through election day Nov. 6.
