Fire damages home

A house on Hadley Avenue is uninhabitable after a fire Sunday morning.

Liberty firefighters were called to 3050 Hadley Ave. at 8:44 a.m., and crews from Vienna, Howland, Brookfield and the Vienna Air Reserve Station responded. No injuries were reported, and the cause is still under investigation.

South Side shooting

YOUNGSTOWN

A 52-year-old city man will be arraigned this week on a felonious-assault charge, accused of shooting another man.

Police arrested Eddie L. Rozier, of West Lucius Avenue, about 8:30 p.m. Saturday at his home. Officers were called to the area when the Shot Spotter program reported gunshots and when they arrived, they found Lorenzo Maxey of Youngstown sitting on a curb with a gunshot wound in his thigh, according to reports.

A witness told police that Maxey had dropped off Rozier’s daughter and after the girl went inside Rozier’s house, the two men began to argue, Maxey punched Rozier in the face, and then Rozier fired two shots, records state. Police said Maxey was in stable condition and is dating the mother of Rozier’s daughter.

Crash in Canfield

CANFIELD

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a four-vehicle crash that occurred about 1:50 p.m. Sunday on Tippecanoe Road just north of Shields Road.

The patrol said the injuries were minor, and one person was cited in the accident.

Poland Relay event

Village and township residents will begin to see donation buckets, raffles and other fundraisers for Relay For Life of Poland on Saturday.

Upcoming Relay For Life of Poland fundraisers include a yard sale at 23 Island Drive in Poland from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 7 and 8 and a refreshment stand at craft and car show at the Negley Volunteer Fire Department from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 22.

Anyone interested in joining the Poland Relay for Life is invited to an organizational meeting at 7 p.m. Sept. 13 at Memorial Baptist Church of Poland, 56 Water St.
