Rogers effective as Brewers beat Pirates 7-0

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Mark Rogers allowed three hits over five innings, Carlos Gomez and Aramis Ramirez homered and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-0 on Sunday.

The Brewers won for the fifth time in six games. The Pirates have lost five of six.

Rogers (2-1) won six days after picking up his first victory in the majors. He walked three and struck out five, throwing 101 pitches.

Manny Parra pitched the sixth and seventh, Jose Veras struck out three around a walk in the eighth and Kameron Loe closed out the Brewers’ sixth shutout.

Erik Bedard (7-14) lasted only 4 2-3 innings. He leads the majors in losses.
