Man involved in hostage situation in Mahoning jail without bond

The man who was involved in a hostage situation, then a standoff with police was back in the Mahoning County Jail without bond after his arraignment Friday.

Rudy Klein, 43, 330 Coitsville Road, was charged with aggravated menacing, domestic violence, abduction, and pointing or discharging firearms.

Klein terrorized his wife and teenage sons with a shotgun Monday night, police reported.

Police rescued Klein’s family from the Coitsville Road home through a second-story window, then Klein held police, including two SWAT teams, at bay for nine hours. He was taken into custody finally Tuesday morning, when police went in and found him passed out on his couch, a report said.
