Cops seeking robber

WEST middlesex, pa.

Police are asking for help finding a man who robbed a bank here last month.

A man about 40 years old with a tall, thin build robbed Huntington Bank, 1 New St., at 10:20 a.m. July 13.

He was wearing an earring in each ear and a ball cap. He shoplifted the cap from the West Middlesex Dollar General just before the robbery.

He was with another man and a woman, both about 40.

The woman had shoulder-length brown hair and was wearing a wrist brace. The man had short brown hair and a mustache.

Rudy Klein jailed

The man who was involved in a hostage situation, then a standoff with police was back in the Mahoning County Jail without bond after his arraignment Friday.

Rudy Klein, 43, 330 Coitsville Road, was charged with aggravated menacing, domestic violence, abduction and pointing or discharging firearms.

Klein terrorized his wife and teenage sons with a shotgun Monday night, police reported.

Police rescued Klein’s family from the Coitsville Road home through a second-story window, then Klein held police, including two SWAT teams, at bay for nine hours. He finally was taken into custody Tuesday morning, when police went in and found him passed out on his couch, a report said.

15th Day of Caring

YOUNGSTOWN

The 15th annual United Way Day of Caring, a communitywide day of hands-on volunteering, is set for Sept. 7.

The event, sponsored by Covelli Enterprises, is a day when hundreds of employees of area companies and organizations and members of church and civic groups participate by completing projects at local nonprofit organizations.

Projects may consist of painting, construction, landscaping or cleaning. Depending on the project, volunteers may be asked to bring gloves, rakes and other equipment.

Volunteers and others can participate in the Day of Caring/2012 Campaign Kick-Off Breakfast at 8 a.m. Sept. 7 at the Covelli Centre, downtown.
