Animal Charity of Ohio Humane Society will host the first Animal Charity Night at Eastwood Field in Niles on Saturday when the Scrappers play the Auburn Doubledays.

Animal Charity will have a table in the concourse to offer animal treats and meetings with some of its adoptable dogs.

Animal Charity representatives will take applications for volunteers or adoptions and will throw out the first pitch.

Tickets are available at $8 each, with half going to Animal Charity. They can be purchased from the Scrappers by calling 330-505-0000. Mention Animal Charity when buying tickets.

Amateur photos due for contest

COLUMBIANA

Entries for the Columbiana Street Fair amateur photography contest are due by noon Sept. 4 at the Columbiana Area Tourism Bureau office in the Chamber of Commerce building, 328 N. Main St.

The American Legion Street Fair will take place Sept. 6 to 8. Photographs will be on display in the Commerce tent.

Contest categories are open, animal, people, I Love This Town, and computer-enhanced for participants age 14 and older, and open and computer enhanced for those 13 and younger. The entry fee is $4 per photo. Awards will be given for first, second and third place in all categories. There also will be an award for People’s Choice.

Bridge work start on Wampum Road

North Beaver, Pa.

Wampum Road Bridge in Lawrence County, North Beaver Township, will undergo core drilling operations from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning Monday through Sept. 7.

Traffic will be maintained through the work area, but minor delays are expected. The project is in the final design stage, with replacement scheduled for 2013.
