WESTMINSTER college 2 ZTA members represent chapter at convention

Hannah Grace Bonzo of New Sewickley Township, Pa., and Kristen Basista of Mineral Ridge, represented Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity’s Delta Omega chapter at Westminster College at the organization’s 51st National and 40th International Convention in Louisville, Ky., earlier this year.

Bonzo serves as her chapter’s president; Basista serves as ritual chair.

The two women joined more than 800 ZTA collegiate and alumnae members and national officers at the biennial convention, including the women fraternity’s legislative body, which consists of delegates from 159 collegiate chapters and more than 235 alumnae organizations.

During the convention, Phyllis George received the Fraternity’s Outstanding Alumna Award for her entrepreneurial spirit and humanitarianism.

George was the 1971 Miss America, the first female sports broadcaster and former first lady of Kentucky.

Sarah Patterson, head coach of The University of Alabama gymnastics team, also became a special initiate in recognition of her dedication to breast cancer education and awareness, ZTA’s national philanthropy.

Members attended programs on chapter management and membership recruitment.

The chapter received the following awards at the convention: Financial Improvement, Academic Achievement, Quota/Total, Crown Chapter, Founders Club $25,000 level and Silver Standards Award.

Zeta Tau Alpha was founded in 1898 at the State Female Normal School (now Longwood University) in Farmville, Va., and has more than 218,000 members worldwide.

One of the nation’s largest Greek women’s groups, ZTA develops members’ leadership, academic and service skills, and supports breast cancer education and awareness as its national philanthropy.
