Batavia topples M.V. in 11th

Patrick Wisdom singled in Garrett Wittels with the game-winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning to lift Batavia to a 2-1 victory over the Scrappers in a New York-Penn League game on Thursday.

Joseph Wendle had two hits, Robel Garcia doubled, Juan Romero drove in a run and Richard Stock scored for the Scrappers (27-35), whose lone run came in the fifth.

Luis DeJesus started and gave up one run over six innings, striking out five with two walks and three hits. Rafael Homblert (2-1) got the loss in one-third inning of relief.

Brandon Creath (2-2) got the win, pitching two scoreless innings of relief for the Muckdogs (35-28).

The Scrappers, who have lost four straight, begin a three-game series in Auburn tonight, then head home for a five-game homestand to end the season.
