Views vary on Ohio's uniform early-voting hours

COLUMBUS (AP) — Early-voting hours are same for the first time across the battleground state of Ohio, but the views are varied.

The hours have been met with pushback by several county officials, adopted by others and sparked a letter to the state’s elections chief from at least one election board member.

Secretary of State Jon Husted has ordered election boards in Ohio’s 88 counties to have the same hours on weekdays and no hours on weekends.

The new times have come up at election board meetings across the state — most notably in southwest Ohio where two Democratic officials face possible removal for voting to extend the hours beyond Husted’s directive.

The Medina County elections board today conveyed its disappointment over the hours to one of Husted’s liaisons.
