ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital is having a community open house and safety fair to celebrate the completion and reopening of the hospital’s newly renovated orthopedic and nursing floor from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.

Started in January, the orthopedic project cost about $4 million.

At the open house, community members can tour the newly redesigned orthopedic and joint unit that features private orthopedic suites with handicap- accessible bathrooms, individual temperature controls, automatic light sensors and other furnishings for patients’ comfort and safety, said Bob Wolleben, TMH chief executive officer.

A revamped physical- rehabilitation gym with new equipment, including a car-transfer simulator, are among the many features to enhance the level of care, Wolleben said.

The orthopedic and safety fair offers visitors an opportunity to explore a variety of displays and obtain health information.

There also will be food, refreshments and entertainment, and emergency responders from the Champion Fire Department, Lane LifeTrans and STAT Medevac will be available to answer questions and provide visitors with a close-up look of a firetruck, ambulance and helicopter.
