Iron Soup will raffle rare handmade basket

Iron Soup Historical Preservation Co. will make an unprecedented offering at a fundraiser planned for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday in front of Sam’s Club.

Iron Soup will raffle off one of the official Falcon Basket Manufacturing Co.’s original handmade baskets.

The baskets are stamped with metal inserts from the Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co. They were made from about 1929 to 1945 out of handwoven Japanese reeds.

To order tickets call 330-531-2883 or 330-623-2351. Tickets cost $1 each or six for $5. The drawing will take place on Labor Day. All profits will benefit the Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co. homes restoration.
