Give school supplies

YOUNGSTOWN

One Step to Life Inc., 3610 Southern Blvd., is hosting its annual Back to School Supply Drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday throughout the school year.

The community is asked to donate school supplies such as book bags, pens, pencils, paper, notebooks, crayons and markers. All donations will benefit Youngstown City Schools.

One Step to Life offers an array of activities for local neighborhoods. For information, call 330-781-7150.

Warren giveaways

WARREN

Warren Family Mission, 361 Elm Road NE, is having a school-supply giveaway from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, or until supplies are exhausted. Recipients will need to bring photo identification and birth certificates for each child who needs school supplies.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, the mission will have a produce giveaway. Recipients must bring photo identification.

Backpack giveaway

WARREN

Trumbull County Educational Service Center, working with First Place Bank, will distribute backpacks and school supplies to students in 20 Trumbull County school districts today and Friday.

First Place Bank conducted a “Backpack Boost” program to help local children start the school year with a free backpack full of school supplies.

Companywide, the bank is donating 530 new backpacks and school supplies, some of which were collected through public donations throughout the summer. About 200 backpacks will be distributed in Trumbull and Mahoning counties.

“Through this program, First Place Bank is playing a valuable role in helping children and supporting public education. We appreciate this outstanding initiative,” said Michael Hanshaw, TCESC superintendent.

Rummage sale set

North Lima

A rummage sale for a medical mission will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Good Hope Lutheran Church, 12030 Market St.

Furniture, a refrigerator, tools, kitchenware, car seats, toys, bikes, children’s and adult clothing and more will be available.

Girard

Author Les Coe of Youngstown will be available to sign copies of his book, “Space Crew-zers” from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at The Daily Grind, 824 N. State St.

In his book, 13 young space adventurers awaken to find themselves alone on the Dallas space station, and the sparse evidence left provides few clues to what happened. Power for the station is mysteriously failing. How do they maintain power and find the missing adults?
